The Kröller-Müller Museum

Last year, I finally made it to the Kröller-Müller Museum, a place I’d been wanting to visit forever. It’s tucked away near this little town called Otterlo, and it’s basically a paradise for Van Gogh lovers—home to the second-biggest collection of his work.

First stop: the Van Gogh Gallery. They’ve got over 90 of his paintings and 180 drawings, which is kind of mind-blowing when you see it all in one place. And the best part? It wasn’t crowded at all. Just me, some masterpieces, and a whole lot of swooning.

The Kröller-Müller Museum opened on July 13, 1938, bringing Helene Kröller-Müller’s dream to life. She started her massive collection in 1908. She felt a deep spiritual connection with Vincent. We are so lucky that she had this vision to open this Museum. Clearly, this was her soul purpose and she fulfilled it! It is such a beautiful museum and site.

The Sculpture Garden

One of the coolest things about this place? Their massive sculpture garden. It’s one of the biggest in Europe and packed with over 160 pieces by heavyweights like Rodin, Henry Moore, and Jean Dubuffet, plus some seriously incredible female sculptors like Barbara Hepworth, Marta Pan, and Jean Arp. Walking through it felt less like a museum visit and more like stumbling into a surreal, open-air dreamscape.

Café & Gift Shop: I'm in love

The museum café is gorgeous, with outdoor seating that makes for a perfect long lunch break. And the shop? Incredible. It has books and art finds I’ve never seen anywhere else, making it a dangerously good place to spend money.

The Kröller-Müller Museum is a rare, magical mix of art, history, and nature. If you’re anywhere near Amsterdam, it’s 100% worth the effort to visit. I would go back in a heartbeat and I definitely plan to spend more time there.
